In May 2022, the South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture recognized its first graduating class after an arduous journey to revive and reshape the mission of the former John de la Howe School. During the past three years, the state's third Governor's School, and the only residential high school in the nation dedicated to agricultural education, has seen its enrollment more than triple, and today the student population on this 1,310-acre campus is made up of the future leaders in the Palmetto State's largest industry. In this presentation, agency president Tim Keown and principal Greg Thompson will explore the challenge of transforming the Governor's School for Agriculture into a 21st century center for career and technical education built on the foundation of an ambitious vision cast by one man in 1797. Here, modern CTE meets the timeless, essential nature of farming in South Carolina.

President, SC Governor’s School for Agriculture
The SC Governor’s School for Agriculture at the historic John de la Howe campus is the only residential high school that is focused on agricultural education in the country. We are located in rural McCormick County on a sprawling 1310 acre campus.
