Research states that students who talk about their learning create deeper and more meaningful connections to course content. Educators are always looking for resources to help broaden a student’s understanding while also engaging them. What strategies can be implemented to engage students in academic discourse throughout classroom lessons? During this session, participants will define and identify characteristics of academic discourse, explore various strategies that can be used foster talk, and experience a few engaging strategies. My goal is for you to leave with confidence and engaging ideas that can be used immediately within the school or classroom.
