One of the top four myths about using computers in K-12 classrooms states that putting computers into schools will directly improve learning; more computers will result in greater improvements. What’s needed is a common language that can be used across disciplines that identifies different degrees of classroom technology integration. Mr. Puentedura’s SAMR model does just that. His model categorizes strategies for classroom technology implementation into four stages-Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. These strategies show teachers how to personalize learning and help students to visualize complex concepts.
