LaKeshia M Adams

LaKeshia Adams is a certified Global Career Development Facilitator and Adult Learner Advocate who has a deep passion for increasing correctional educator quality and incarcerated learner opportunities. She has provided over 10 years of educational instruction, support, and leadership on the local, regional, and state levels.

LaKeshia taught mathematics in the public schools of North and South Carolina for five and a half years and then traded educating the public’s youth for staying home to immerse herself in the joys of nurturing her beloved children. She re-entered the workforce as an Adult educator in the Orangeburg Calhoun Adult Education Program in 2015 where she provided math, science, and work readiness skills instruction. Later she became the Transition Specialist for the Palmetto Unified School District in the Division of Programs, Reentry, and Rehabilitative Services at the South Carolina Department of Corrections. She assisted the education staff with addressing college and career readiness needs of incarcerated learners and worked closely with Reentry Program Coordinators to address the academic needs of incarcerated persons preparing to return to their communities. She later became the TAN 2 Curriculum Specialist - developing, facilitating, and presenting local, regional, and state-wide professional development workshops for Adult Educators across South Carolina.

LaKeshia is currently an Education Associate for The Office of Adult Education in the Division of College and Career Readiness at the South Carolina Department of Education where her specialized work duties are Corrections Education Sub-Grant Coordinator, Workforce Development Board Liaison, Vocational Rehabilitation Liaison, and Career Readiness Credential Point-of-Contact. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics Education from South Carolina State University, a M.Ed. in Instructional Accommodation from Francis Marion University, and a M.Ed. in Curriculum Instruction: K-14 Math from Concordia University.
