Shelby Elise Simmons, MAT, MEd., is the Lowcountry Regional Workforce Advisor with the South Carolina Department of Commerce. Over the past 23 years, Shelby has served South Carolinians as a k-12 teacher, technical college instructor, small business owner, and prior to moving to Commerce, was the Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at the resurgent Denmark Technical College. A graduate of the Technical College of the Lowcountry, Limestone College (now University), and the University of South Carolina, Mrs. Simmons works to expand the talent pipeline and promote economic development through collaborative relationships with business, industry, education, and the local community.
